Junior League of Birmingham History The Junior League of Birmingham, Michigan, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The League's Vision is to strive to improve and protect the quality of life for children by leading and empowering the community to make positive changes in the area of children’s health and wellness. Through extensive education, commitment of resources, and collaborative efforts, we will establish a legacy of awareness, service, and personal involvement.

Dash for Destiny 5K Run/Walk The Dash for Destiny 5K race will feature fast, flat blacktop roads that wind through Birmingham. Click here for the course map.
The race starts promptly at 9:00 am on Sunday, May 9th at Shain Park in Birmingham, MI. Each mile is marked. A water station will be provided mid way through the course. Participants should bring additional water.
The race will be scored with the Championchip timing system and results will be posted on the Junior League of Birmingham website.
Race t-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by April 15th for the 5K. Please note, there is a $2 fee for t-shirts size XXL.
When participant’s teams are registered, each team is entered to win a free 30-minute massage courtesy of Revitalize Day Spa in Birmingham . The prize will be awarded to the largest registered team. Each Registered 5K participant who completes the 5K within 60 minutes will be entered to win the Destiny Diamond pendant, generously donated by David Wachler and Sons Jewelers.

1 Mile Fun Run for kids 12 and Under Dash for Destiny will feature a 1 mile Fun Run for kids 12 and under. The race starts at 8:30 am on Sunday, May 9th at Shain Park in Birmingham, MI. Click here for the course map.
After completing the mile course, each registered child will receive a backpack, and pedometer. Kids can also make their own granola in the Kids in the Kitchen tent following the race.
In addition to the race, there will be several complimentary/free interactive booths to educate children on health and wellness. Children can mix a healthy snack at the make-your-own trail mix booth, which is sponsored by JLB’s Kids in the Kitchen Program. In addition, Eckert’s Greenhouse is sponsoring a booth where children can pot flower and vegetable seeds for a beautiful Mother’s Day Gift. Flowers and plants from the Greenhouse will also be for sale in case you need a last minute Mother’s Day gift.
Eckert’s Greenhouse has created a special program, “Seed to Feed” for Forgotten Harvest. Race participants will have the opportunity to sign up for the “Seed to Feed” program and give back to those in need. Eckert’s, along with the JLB, will give participants the seeds to grow vegetables. The harvest will then be brought back to the Greenhouse for pick up by Forgotten Harvest and distributed to their clients. Members of the Junior League of Birmingham, Michigan, Inc., along with race participants, have pledged to grow 500 pounds of vegetables this summer and fall for donation to “Seed to Feed.”
