History of Riverside House
Riverside House, headquarters and home of the Junior League of Jacksonville, opened its facilities to the community and its many organizations in December of 1980.
Built under the guidance of Brigham Young’s youngest son in 1925, the one-time Mormon Church was purchased by the League in 1979. Renovation plans drawn by local architect W. Stanly Gordon were completed with funds raised from a matching grant by the Charter Company, thirty-eight other corporations and hundreds of individuals.
The use of Riverside House by the community is an extension of the Junior League’s efforts to involve itself in all aspects of Jacksonville’s broad scope of activities and needs. By opening Riverside House to the community and by offering special rental rates to non-profit organizations, the Junior League indeed provides Jacksonville with a much needed service.
