Mission Statement: The Junior League of Yakima is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Vision Statement: The Junior League of Yakima is a dynamic, growing community leader dedicated to improving the lives of women and children.

Focus Statement: The Junior League of Yakima is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of women and children in the community we serve.

Benefits of Membership

  • Training for effective community leadership, including advocacy, community research, fundraising, finance, leadership, public relations, and personal development

  • Working with other women to create positive community change

  • Insight into community needs and strategies for solutions

  • Access to community leaders, new friends, and creative ideas

  • Exposure to creative strategies in problem solving and administration of a non-profit organization

  • Ability to transfer membership to other Junior Leagues

        The Sustainer Legacy Fund is providing two (2) scholarships for $3,000.00 each to women who are returning to school after a break in their educations. Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2010

        Join the Junior League of Yakima

        Membership in the Junior League of Yakima is open to women (at least 21 years of age) of all races, religions, and national origins who share in our commitment to volunteerism and to improving our community.

        Interested women are encouraged to obtain membership information by calling 509-966-0930.

        Community Assistance Grant Applications

        Junior League of Yakima is pleased to announce its 2009-2010 granting cycle.  The application and additional details are available at the link below.

        Criteria for Applicants:

        1.       Operate within the greater Yakima County.

        2.       Have a local Board of Directors.

        3.       Be a nonprofit and charitable organization, and have 501(c)(3) status with the IRS.

        4.       Present goals compatible with those expressed in the Junior League of Yakima’s mission statement.

        5.       Must provide opportunities for volunteerism (may be one-time event) for the Junior League of Yakima’s members.
